Malaysia has always been known for its unique fusion of culture, exotic beauty of the states, enchanting people, and definitely for its very own flavorful dishes that are reflective of its rich and colorful heritage.

From June 1-30 for only P950 net (price is inclusive of 10 percent service charge and applicable government tax), Restaurant Riviera of The Heritage Hotel Manila presents the famous cuisine of Malaysia as main feature in its international buffet spread for lunch and dinner daily. Taste the distinction of its culinary diversity originating from its multi ethnic population of Malay, Indian, Eurasian, Chinese, Nonya, and the indigenous people of Borneo. Excite your senses with the Malay herbs, Chinese tonics, Indian spices and other aged-old recipes that come together in each dish prepared by Executive Chef Chua and his team. For a truly Malaysian experience, the Restaurant is replete with Malaysia’s unique trademarks and famous places. It will give the diner an overview of this hodgepodge of Asian culture.

Start off with Roti Prata, or Roti canai, the rich and flaky pastry pancake that originated from India, known as a favorite appetizer, served with a side of curry for dipping. Also sample the Rojak Salad (Nonya style) that is basically cucumber and pineapple tossed in sambal chili. Delight in Laksa, in which almost every state of Malaysia has its own regional variation of this well-liked noodle dish. In general, there are two main types: A sour, tamarind-based rice noodle laksa known as Asam Laksa (fish is the main ingredient); and a rich, creamy laksa flavored with coconut milk and curry powder known as Curry Laksa (which can have various toppings such as chicken or mixed seafood). All these are flavored with aromatic local herbs.

For main course, have a good fill of Malaysia’s very own version of Chicken Satay, the tender and succulent cubed chicken, marinated in a sweet, spicy paste and threaded onto bamboo skewers, grilled over hot charcoal. Never miss the Beef Rendang one of the country’s popular dishes.

It is a spiced coconut beef swathed in rich coconut cream, balanced with a vigorous amount of special spices, ideally matched with Nasi Lemak or coconut rice (rice flavored with coconut milk and perfumed with pandan leaves). Indulge some more in the zesty Chicken Curry (Nonya-style), with a perfect blend of spices for an authentic Malaysian tasting curry! Don’t miss the tangy and slightly spicy Sweet and Sour Crabs.
