New Taal Vista Hotel rated first class by DoT

Taal Vista Hotel was recently rated a first-class hotel by the Department of Tourism (DoT). Through the years, the 70-year-old tourism institution in Tagaytay has proven to be the most majestic and grandest landmark of the garden city 2,700 feet above sea level.

Indeed, who will not be caught by Taal Vista Hotel’s charm and glamour?

Taal Vista Hotel has already accommodated thousands of guests who find comfort and serenity in it. The hotel has hosted the grandest occasions and continues to welcome more guests into a delightful experience. Today, more than ever, Taal Vista Hotel once again opens a wider door for the same great view... a totally new experience.

In 1937, with the help and management of Manila Hotel, a vacation lodge was built by leaders of the Commonwealth government as an alternative retreat to Baguio. It was designed to accommodate important guests, such as heads of state, government officials, famous shows and business personalities.

The hotel changed hands through the years. Resort Hotels Corporation owned and managed the hotel until it was turned over in 1984 to Hotel Development Corporation, a subsidiary of Development Bank of the Philippines. In 1988, SM Investments Corporation bought the property which renovated 40 rooms for exclusive use of PAGCOR guests. For a time, concessionaires like children’s game room and a Jollibee store kept guests coming, next to enjoying the great view of Taal Volcano and Taal Lake from the deck of the hotel.

In the middle of 2002, the hotel started constructing new rooms, eyeing an eloquent market. It took almost a year to finish the new rooms, followed by a total knock down construction of the same Tudor-like building (where the front office is located) on the last quarter of 2003. After a year, additional rooms and a new swimming pool were constructed to serve the growing demand of an ever growing market.

The once modest lodge for tourists has now metamorphosed into the country’s new tiger in the hotel industry. The changes made of its architectural style is called transitional design, a fusion of the old structure and the modern schemata. Simple but elegant, the real taste of value.

Brand new room accommodation starts from only R4,950 to R6,000 for two adults and two kids below 12 years old for a superior room. Rooms are fully airconditioned, furnished with cable TV, bathtub, hot and cold shower, IDD/NDD telephone lines, mini-bar and room services such as massage, food and beverages, laundry and others. City tour, Taal Volcano trekking, other sports facilities, mailing/freight, and casino gaming, among others, may be arranged both in the hotel concierge or front desk.

The cool and crisp air of Tagaytay and the breathtaking panoramic view of Taal Volcano, matches the 127 deluxe rooms, 10 brand new function rooms, restaurant, lobby lounge bar, swimming pool and other new amenities. More facilities will be available soon, including a Spa, Gym, KTV rooms, indoor gaming rooms, and other outdoor facilities for greater guest enjoyment.
