Healthy eating, amazing tastes await the discriminating diners of the metropolis as HEAT sizzles at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila.

The HEAT of Life

The name HEAT signifies one of Earth’s main elements. Heat is the dynamic force which created the universe. Robust and dynamic, it pertains to food as well as the restaurant being the hottest new restaurant in town. HEAT also pertains to fiery passion, "the rhythm of life," and of the Filipino people’s passion for life, family, food and fun.

HEAT is healthy eating, amazing tastes. An ardor for the best things life can offer — be it food in particular or total well-being in general.

The World’s Finest Cuisines in 20 Interactive Sections

The restaurant has distinct open cooking theatres incorporating 20 interactive sections. Chefs preparing specialties a la minute will surely captivate guests.

The Oriental Station features all kinds of Chinese barbecue with a Hong Kong trained chef who will whip up traditional barbecue fares. The popular Western Station features popular western fare and carvery alongside a Tandoori section offering well-loved grilled Indian specialties. Salads, sushi and Asian tapas make up another station where HEAT’s trained chefs showcase the art of preparing Japanese specialties and at the same time whip up a wide array of greens for truly healthy eating. Another interesting feature is the Noodle Station which has Indonesian, Thai, Chinese, Filipino and Japanese noodle specialties.

Pizza lovers will definitely be ecstatic over freshly baked pizza straight out of the traditional wood-burning oven at the Italian section which also serves homestyle, rustic Italian masterpieces like risotto-of-the-day, among others.

A highlight to the HEAT dining experience is the lechon pit. What used to be served only in fiestas and every Filipino’s favorite will now be a daily special offering at HEAT.

Guests will definitely delight in the Dessert Station where a delectable spread of local goodies like halo-halo as well as international goodies will tempt even the most discerning sweet tooth. Taking centerstage are not one but two chocolate fountains (white and dark chocolates) to satisfy the gravings of every chocoholic.

According to hotel general manager John Rice, "the old Garden Café has been a landmark in Metro Manila as the most popular hotel coffee shop and meeting venue in the past decade. Edsa Shangri-La, Manila makes history once more as we unveil Heat to our guests. Its modern and contemporary dining style coupled with the superb service and warmth its predecessor was known for make Heat an absolute success."

Executive Chef Timothy Stanhope adds that "Manila’s dining scene has tremendously developed in the past three to four years with innovations being introduced in such a fast pace. In our hotel, we have proudly renovated our specialty restaurants like Summer Palace, Senju and Paparazzi. We feel it’s high time that we give our coffee shop the new look it truly deserves."

Earth as Design Element

Designed by world-renowned firm Hirsch Bedner Associates Design Consultants, the restaurant is an innovative, million investment displaying the artistic marriage of beauty and functionality. Taking inspiration from Earth’s various elements, the 420-seater dining place combines hues and textures culled from nature. Homogenous tiles and engineered wood cover a large interior floor area of 1,236 square meters.

Limestone, ingenious wallpaper, gold mosaic and decorative glass panels make up the walls while the ceiling is made of abstract copper and silver design with beige Saguran matting complementing the color of the food counters beneath it.

Granite counters accentuated with red and blue seed designs, onyx and capiz provide a cutting edge feel to the cooking theaters.

Water is used generously as a design element. Three water cascades welcome guests as they enter HEAT’s sanctum. A bridgeway over flowing water provide access to the al fresco area overlooking the garden and the pool area.
