DALAHICAN, Lucena City - Tourists and even regular commuters from Luzon particularly Metro Manila en route to world-famous Boracay Island have all reasons to be happy.

For a price of less than a thousand pesos they can now take a sea-route trip to Boracay from this city in nine hours instead of the more expensive plane ride from Manila domestic airport.

With the success of the maiden trip (from here) of the Blue Magic Ferries roro boat to Boracay with Caticlan as disembarkation point, another Blue Magic ferryboat shall be inaugurated to service the same route very soon.

Aside from affordable fares, the ferry boat charges its passengers numbering 350 per trip, they are entertained along the way (passing by Masbte, Romblon, and Palawan) by dancing dolphins, flying fish, magnificent sunrise and golden sunset before reaching their destination in Caticlan, Aklan. Travel time is nine hours and a half.

Romy Reyes, the shipping line manager said their boat passengers enjoyed the cabin type (good for two persons) de luxe air conditioned and the non-air-con economy type accommodations. The boat also has coffee shop, canteen, bar and restaurant with live acoustic band, tv/videoke and view deck promenade amenities.

Reyes said cabin accommodation costs R950, while the economy room costs R830. Children’s fare is affordable with kids below four years old are entitled to half fare price.

These and other factors were highly appreciated by the riding public, Reyes said.

The ro/ro cargo type ferry leaves Dalahican every Friday at 5 p.m. and leaves at Caticlan Boracay back to Lucena on Sunday at 5 p.m. Call 0427104168 for reservations.

Reyes thanked Gov. Carlito Marquez and Rep. Florencio Miraflores who welcomed the Blue Magic Ferries boat during its maiden trip to Boracay. (Daniel Mangaba)
