Gulf Air offers online ticketing

Passengers of Gulf Air bound for the Middle East, Europe, the Mediterranean and other destinations will soon have the option to buy their tickets online as the airline prepares to launch its electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) service.

Roberto Hukom, Gulf Air country manager said the airline is now undergoing intensive preparation for the new system which is expected to be introduced in late June or early July.

"Passengers will find the new system convenient, accessible and easy to use," Hukom said.

An experienced trainor from Gulf Air head office Rami Shujaie, was sent to Manila to handle the e-ticketing training of the local ticketing, reservations, sales, marketing, airport and finance teams.

Hukom said the launching of the new system is part of Gulf Air’s "Smart Airline and Successful Business" strategy to give customers optimum service.

Gulf Air’s e-ticketing service has already been introduced in other locations around the world. This innovation is gaining popularity as more and more passengers have started using the facility because of its inherent benefits.

"We have been constantly improving our systems with the sole aim of increasing our passengers’ convenience, be it in the air or on the ground," said Gulf Air Vice President for Sales and Marketing Danny Barranger.

The e-ticketing move is part of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) continuing efforts to reduce costs for airlines, travel agencies and travelers, offering more flexibility, security and improved reconciliation of all transactions.

E-ticketing allows storing passenger travel data electronically and is designed to greatly reduce the manual effort spent today on issuing, delivering, tracking and reconciling paper tickets for airline travel.

For passengers, it not only offers the convenience of buying tickets at home or in the office but also greater flexibility with last-minute change options and faster airport check in.

The e-ticket cannot be lost as the booking always remains in the reservation system and can be accessed at anytime.
