Starting tomorrow, July 1, Gulf Air passengers will be able to experience the airline’s award-winning onboard catering as it offers new delectable menus on its international flights from Manila.

This was announced by Roberto Hukom, Gulf Air country manager, as he also disclosed the airline’s recent major achievement in the 2006 Skytrax Award.

"We are delighted to offer new menus to travelers which they will find not only appetizing but also the kind that has made us world champion of onboard catering," Hukom said.

Six different menu choices will be offered in the economy class alone. "Six different choices in economy class is unimaginable," Hukom said.

Michael Kent, Gulf Air head of inflight and cabin crew, and Christopher Camacho, Gulf Air skychef, were in Manila recently to supervise the food presentation by Miascor-GateGourmet.

The introduction of new menus came on the heels of Gulf Air’s recent recognition – the Skytrax’s "Best First Class Onboard Catering" for the third consecutive year.

"Gulf Air is proud to have garnered once again the top award in the onboard catering category. This shows that the company’s efforts to continually improve its services and products are paying off," Hukom stressed.

Skytrax Awards provides the most prestigious recognition of outstanding quality excellence for product and customer service delivery across today’s world airline industry.

Gulf Air President and Chief Executive James Hogan said the introduction of onboard chefs by Gulf Air a couple of years ago set a new benchmark for onboard catering standards.

"While this is concentrated on the premium end of the aircraft, the concept has resulted in a much more notable improvement to Gulf Air onboard catering standards across all cabins, and more importantly this consistency of quality has been maintained over three consecutive years," Hogan said.

The airline was also awarded 2nd place in the "Best Business Class Catering" category and 5th in the economy class category, up from 6th last year.

Peter Miller, Skytrax marketing director, said these awards are based on ‘real’ quality standards. In other words, the actual quality of product and service being delivered, every hour of every day, to an airline’s customers."
