The Department of Tourism (DoT) Beijing office recently held a three–day Philippine photo exhibit entitled "The Philippines As Seen By Chinese Photographers" at the upmarket and popular Oriental Mall in Wangfujing, Beijing.

Aimed at increasing awareness for the Philippines as a tourism destination at the consumer level, the exhibit featured 80 photographs of the Philippines taken by Chinese photographers from Beijing consumer news dailies and glossy lifestyle and travel magazines. The photographers included: Wang Bin Yun of Beijing Evening News; Wang Gui Lin of Tourism Magazine; Li Wen Ying of Vacation Magazine; Jia Liang of Travel Agent Magazine; Wu Ruo Feng of Tourism Magazine; and freelance photographers Zhou Hui and Jiang Yong Tao.

These photographers went to the Philippines in 2005 and 2006, upon the invitation of DoT, and toured Manila, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and Davao. All the photographs exhibited were already published in various Chinese newspapers and magazines.

Simultaneous with the exhibit, the DoT Beijing office also implemented an in–store promotional activity together with six Chinese tour operators, who are top producers for the Philippines.

The said operators distributed their Philippine brochures and tour packages during the photo exhibit and in-store promotions, and helped convince consumers to go to the Philippines for their next holidays. The Chinese tour operators included representatives from CYTS, CITS, CTI, CSH, JITS and Beijing Huayuan.
