Rosario town holds 1st Tinapang Salinas festival

The municipality of Rosario, Cavite and the Parish of Most Holy Rosary are celebrating their 162nd Joint Foundation Anniversary on Oct. 22, as they launch the 1st Original Tinapang Salinas Festival.


The local government, led by Mayor Jose "Nonong" Ricafrente and Vice Mayor Jose Rozel "Jhing-Jhing" Hernandez has lined up numerous entertainment and socio-civic activities to promote the one town, one product program of government thru its Original Tinapang Salinas Festival.

The anniversary commenced on Sept. 30 with an Alay Lakad, attended by municipal and barangay officials, students, and NGOs. It was followed by a tree planting thru the initiative of the Knights of Columbus 7868. Also included in the activities were a "lolo and lola" modern dance contest and a "Gandang Lola, Kisig Lolo" pre-pageant night, a graduation day for training center and livelihood projects, a free film showing in town plaza, Fiesta Filipiniana cultural night presentation featuring Tanghalang Rosario, a San Isidro band night show, group dance competition and Pistahan ng TODA at PODA acoustic night and live band performances sponsored by Rosario Green Ladies (RGL) headed by Dinah Olquialda and Mimie Hernandez.

Also among the activities were a ballroom dancing night with Articulo Band, a Mr. and Ms. Rosario Foundation, a Rosario "Salinas" Singing Idol, coronation night for the Mr. Rosario Foundation 2007, and a basketball clinic with PBA players and Battle of the Bands (Muziklaban) on Oct. 19 and 20.
