"Through the Lens," an invitational photography competition among news photographers, is slated on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Golden Sunset Resort and Spa in Calatagan, Batangas.
With theme "Beauty amid the beauty of Golden Sunset," the contest will be participated in by about 20 photojournalists who will be asked to take photographs of the candidates of Ms. Earth 2008 with the resort’s sun, sea, pool, gardens and lagoons serving as the picture-perfect backdrop.
The participating photos shall be on exhibit at the People’s Park in Tiendesitas, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, from Nov. 6 to 12, afterwhich the judging shall take place.
First prize shall receive P20,000; second prize P15,000; and third prize P10,000.
Newly added features of the Golden Sunset Resort and Spa make it even more irresistible for photographers, be it professional or just nature-loving hobbyists, to hie off to the picture perfect paradise. A garden cove with 10 rooms, which could house 50 people has just recently opened its doors to accommodate more tired and weary city trekkers in this relaxing cove in the heart of Calatagan. Swimming pool slides, bike lanes, and outdoor museum gallery, and a mesmerizing butterfly sanctuary add up to the fun and rustic charm that it offers. Now, with these new additions, Golden Sunset has in its stead 75 rooms, which could accommodate 140 people, plus a dormitory which could house 42 heads.
