Industry News - Mariveles is future Boracay?

Mariveles in Bataan can become even more beautiful than Boracay island if its clean, sandy and sprawling coastal areas would be given special attention by the national government for its conversion into a world-class resort, said Mayor Jesse I. Concepcion.

"No need to go to as far as Boracay if the people really wanted to enjoy swimming, jet skiing along the beautiful beaches since those coming from Manila can just reach this coastal town in more than two hours of driving," pointed out Concepcion.

But the town mayor here lamented that despite the unique treasure of this coastal town it remains underdeveloped brought about by lack of attention from the national government, particularly the Department of Tourism that is in charge of developing potential beaches.

Mariveles hosts the Bataan Economic Zone where more than 60 foreign companies are operating, producing export products and giving employment to tens of thousands of people. It is a first–class municipality.

This town has sprawling beaches, some of which are white and sandy but only the Mattel beach appears to be the favorite swimming place of the people here. There is also the Talaga beach, once utilized as the resthouse of then President Marcos due to its unique environment, beautiful landscape and virgin forests.

Concepcion appealed to Tourism authorities to give priority for the coastal development of this town which he described as potential and possible tourist destination in Central Luzon.
