If there is one night of the year when Manila is at its "partiest," it is on the eve of New Year.

Manila nightlife is a delicious mix of the bold, the sultry and the beautiful. It might be messy and exhausting by day, but at night, this cosmopolitan city puts on her dancing shoes and sparkles.

Like anywhere else with a strong line of Latin ancestry, Manila is all about the rhythm. Thus, Manila’s nightlife is one of Asia’s most exciting.

Malate, known for its street parties and vivacious bars along Nakpil St., attracts the very young and trendy crowd. If you prefer non-pretentious fun, this is where you should be.

In Makati, partygoers enjoy the pulsating delights of Greenbelt where restaurants, bars and cafés are lined up next to each other for a deviating mix of entertainment and refreshing ambiance. From the exotic Filipino delicacies to the sophisticated European cuisine, this place gathers people by their personal preferences. And because of its upscale image, the Makati crowd show themselves with glam and grace.

Five-star hotels and restaurants, some of them housed in historic buildings, also make the perfect place to ring in the New Year. Hotels offer everything from dazzling cultural shows to futuristic clubs, lively casinos, entertainment lounges, fashionable cafés and intimate fine dining. It is also the ideal venue to watch those fireworks shows when the clock strikes at midnight.

Piazza Serendra is now the place to be, whether for casual business meetings, intimate dinners or special celebrations.

Situated in a sprawling park, this food haven is peppered with so many specialty restaurants and trendy bars that one can literally hop from one place to another. After a main meal, one can check out other restaurants for dessert, then maybe proceed to a bar for a night cap. Among the favorites are Mezze Luna, Guava, Duo Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Thai at Silk, Fex, Gaudi, Cupcakes by Sonja, Aloha Polu Kai, Portico, Abe restaurant and lots more. The ambiance is perfect for New Year dinner reunions with your family, balikbayan relatives or friends.

The Tomas Morato strip boasts of many different restaurants which offer a variety of choices, be it local or foreign cuisine. It is better to walk going to the bars and restaurants, and take in the sights, rather than drive around because traffic can be really bad on weekends. With its proximity to two of the largest media networks in the country, many movie stars, politicians, and socialites frequent the place. Aside from the food, the celebrity crowd is what the people come here for.

Other highly recommended spots include Alchemy and Metrowalk in Ortigas; Fluxxe and Embassy in Fort Bonifacio; and Eastwood City in Libis.
