Camiguin in new Lonely Planet book

The picturesque island of Camiguin is included in the prestigious Bluelist 2008, a list of the must-see travel destinations by the Lonely Planet, one of the most recognized international travel experts.

A breathtaking photo of White Island in Camiguin taken by Filipino photographer and writer Eric Cabahug is one of only 10 photos in the book’s "Bluelist Moments" section.

The section is devoted to the most captivating travel images and experiences sent by photographers and writers from all over the world.

Bluelist 2008 also cites the Philippines’ Mt. Pinatubo in a section on the world’s most eruptive volcanoes.

Touted as "the definitive travel encyclopedia" by the New York Daily News and filled with stunning photographs, Lonely Planet Bluelist is an informative guide to the best travel destinations in the planet.

This year’s edition also features "Travel Islam," a special section on the cultures and countries of the Islamic World, and "Endangered Wildlife," a yearly planner to the best places to see endangered animals in their natural habitat.

The travel book is now available in local bookstores and online at lonelyplanet.com.

Enjoy Sinulog, Dinagyang, Ati-atihan with EZ Maps

Three of the country’s biggest festivals – Cebu’s Sinulog, Iloilo’s Dinagyang and Kalibo’s Ati-atihan will reel off on the third week of January, and the use of a handy, reliable map is always the best option to go around these festivities.

For visitors to the Queen City of the South, there is the EZ Metro Cebu Street Guide (CSG), the definitive street map of Cebu which features 116 pages of up-to-date maps, 1,580 landmarks and more than 1,400 streets covering the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Talisay and Danao.

"The CSG map is an ideal guide for travelers, tourists, expats, students, motorists, professionals, investors, event organizers or anyone who wants to master the growing metropolis like the back of his hand," said UTP publisher Ariel D. Jersey.

The CSG contains a simple how-to section on the use of maps, useful contact details on general and emergency services, tourist facilities, consulates and key government offices.

It also includes locations of government offices, hotels, resorts, restaurants, transportation hubs, tourist spots, and important landmarks which are indexed alphabetically, along with simple grid coordinates.

Meanwhile, guests to the Dinagyang must get hold of EZ Map Iloilo which covers the province’s road network map and the street map of Iloilo City.

For Ati-atihan revelers, there is the EZ Map Boracay which contains a street map of Kalibo, the major roads of Aklan, and the latest resort map of Boracay.

Also to be released soon is the 2008 edition of Cebu province and top tourist sites in the country in time for summer.

All EZ Maps make use of global positioning system (GPS) to ensure accuracy of information. The maps are available at National Bookstore outlets, gas service stations, airports, seaports, hotel shops, and tourist-oriented establishments nationwide.
