Hacienda Escudero spacer Birdwatchers’ Haven

There are many attractions that Hacienda Escudero has to offer—residential and commercial areas that bring one back to the affluent Commonwealth period, various amenities that address one’s need for rest or recreation, and the most wondrous of all is a rich natural bounty that couldn’t be found anywhere else in the Philippines.

And one of the natural attractions that the leisure tourism estate is very proud of is its wide variety of bird species—from the very rare Indigo-banded Kingfisher to the common Zebra Dove.

Residents from around the Escudero estate, in fact, claim that as soon as dark gives in to the light of day, one can actually hear the delightful chirping of not just one, but five bird species. Just imagine that delightful chorus waking you up in the morning!

Some of the common wild birds spotted in the coconut plantation include the Purple Heron, Cattle Egret, Cinnamon Bittern, Barred Rail, Ruddy-Crested Crake, White-breasted Waterhen, Watercock, and Common Moorhen.

As one walks along the 415-hectare estate, one could even be greeted with the sight of the Greater Painted Snipe, Oriental Paticole, Lesser Coucal, White-throated Kingfisher, Blue-throated Bee-eater, and Yellow-vented Bulbul.

Also to be found in the area are the Large-billed Crow, Mangrove Blue Flycatcher, Olive-backed Sunbird, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Chestnut Munia, and the Oriental Magpie-Robin.

The vast Escudero estate is one of those areas that has retained its natural charm, and this may be the reason why birds—and other animals for that matter—have found a good habitat in it.

The natural rivers remain unspoiled, and some of the coconut trees that have been planted there during the turn of the century are still standing. Its two rivers, Bulakin and Labasin, traverse a rich landscape teeming with coconut, narra, molave, banaba, and ipil trees.

The area is likewise surrounded by three majestic mountains—Mt. Banahaw, Mt. San Cristobal, and Mt. Malarayat.

And with its development into a leisure tourism estate by premier residential developer Landco Pacific Corporation, these natural features will remain untouched.

With all these, one could actually say that living in Hacienda Escudero is the closest thing to living in paradise.
