Tingloy Island Discovery Race set in Batangas

Unravel the next hottest tourist hotspot and island getaway in Batangas in the Tingloy Island Discovery Race slated on August 14.

Set in the tradition of “Amazing Race”, the outdoor adventure event will explore the exotic sites of the island as some 40 three-person teams try to outwit and outrace one another to bring home handsome prizes.

The mixed gender teams, which should have at least one female member, will be required to perform certain tasks around the island. Participants should possess basic island navigation and swimming skills to be accepted.

Located in Maribacan Island off Batangas mainland, Tingloy boasts of clear waters and fine sand beaches, some 30 excellent dive spots, and a protected marine sanctuary which teems with rich underwater marine life.

According to Batangas provincial tourism officer Pancho Lardizabal, the race aims to highlight Tingloy as the next eco-tourism and sports adventure destination with its unique physical contour, unspoilt surrounding and natural charm. It is only about 30 minutes away from the popular dive area of Anilao in Mabini town.

He said that the event is in line with Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos Recto’s thrust of promoting the province as among the leading tourism spots in the country because of its diverse attraction and proximity to Manila.

Tingloy has smaller islands, namely Sombrero, Culebra, Malajibomanoc, and Caban. It also has a beautiful beach in Brgy. San Juan, facing Mindoro and Sepoc Point where an extension of Eagle Point Resort is located.

It also has enticing mountains with challenging slopes that beckon mountaineers.

For guests who intend to stay overnight, Tingloy has several resort hotels, most notable of which is Olympic Point Resort which has 22 aircon and non-aircon rooms with a swimming pool, view decks, and diving facilities.

The event coincides with the town’s patronal fiesta on August 16.
