Chinese New Year is the longest celebration in the Chinese calendar; it is also deemed as the most important. A Chinese proverb states that all creations are reborn on New Year’s Day. The Chinese New Year is a celebration of change. Out with the old and in with the new.

This statement easily reminds a person of one mammoth institution that has valiantly reinvented itself in the past year: the Manila Hotel. The Grand Dame has recently surprised the country with the innovative and modern changes that it has made around the hotel’s guest rooms and outlets. Among these good changes is the birth of its newest restaurant Mabuhay Palace—a haven for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine. A restaurant that has earned our respect in the past year as it garnered recognition left and right from prestigious organizations, Mabuhay Palace now sets the standard for Chinese fine dining in the metro.

The iconic Manila Hotel welcomes the year of the tiger with a grand Chinese New Year celebration on 14 February 2010. At the center of the festivities, of course, is Mabuhay Palace. Witness the dragon dance and the fireworks at 6PM on February 14 then enjoy a succulent Chinese New Year Feast with friends and family. From February 12 to February 16, Mabuhay Palace gives us an extraordinary celebration marked by good feng shui and mouthwatering dishes prepared by Master Chefs Hou Zhen Hui, Josephine Candelaria and Lin Jie Min. The restaurant’s Chinese New Year set menus are priced from P1,150 net to P4,200 net per person.

Additionally, the Prosperity Salad or Yee Sang serves six people in Mabuhay Palace for only P350++ from January 25 to February 15, 2010.

“Chinese New Year has always been a joyous affair at Manila Hotel,” says Manila Hotel General Manager Leon Keekstra. “This year, you can expect that we have planned a wonderful celebration that has a fusion of great food and excellent service for you and your family.”

Tikoy, or Chinese New Year rice cake, will be sold at the Chinese New Year booth at the Manila Hotel lobby from January 21 to February 15, 2010 between 8AM and 11PM daily.
