Amanpuri - Amanresort, Thailand

Amanpuri, which means "place of peace" in Sanskrit, is built on

a coastal hillside on Phuket. The island is connected to

Thailand's Phang-Nga province by bridge and is surrounded by

the Andaman Sea which joins the Indian Ocean to the south.

On Phuket's west central coast is Pansea Beach from where a

stairway leads up to the resort's main pool and facilities. The

resort's guest accommodations of 40 pavilions are

interspersed within a coconut plantation connected by

elevated walkways with colonnades.

Also available for rental and adjoining the resort to the north,

are 30 villa homes managed by Amanpuri.

Climate

The dry season in Phuket extends between mid-October and mid-May. From mid-May to

mid-October, the island's weather changes to more frequent showers, yet these often only last

a short time and are mostly followed by sunshine. Temperatures year-round range from 21 to

35C (70-90F).

Language

The official language is Thai. However, English is commonly spoken around commercial centers.

international-standard golf courses within 30 minutes of Amanpuri, arrangements made upon request

Places of Interest

Although Phuket's charm lies in its natural beaches and countryside, there are many interesting options

to explore around Amanpuri: Phuket town with its Central Market which bustles from early morning to

noon; Butterfly Garden and Aquarium; the virgin jungle of Khao Phra Thaeo National Park; the Museum

in Phuket and another in Talang with a large collection of artefacts from the Mollucas and interesting

maps; 30 Buddhist temples on the island, among them, Wat Phra Nang Sang with 3,000 year old

Buddha heads and allegorical frescoes; several Islamic Mosques.
