Looking for a great weekend on the beach with parties, fun and friends? Well, you
just missed one! The third South Sea Resources Subic Bay Dive Fiesta, held last
April 9 to 11 (Friday to Sunday), was the perfect get-away for city folk in need of
natural nourishment ? or anyone else for that matter.
Having held two successful events previously, the organizers put together a full
weekend of exciting events and parties for divers to entertain the whole family.
For divers, there was the blindfolded dive gear assembly? the first one to cross
the winning line with a correctly assembled set of scuba gear wins.
Obviously, the ever popular underwater navigation course tested competing
divers, while the conscious diver rescue competition also helped remind divers of
basic safety procedures ? as well as being a lot of fun.
Everyone loved the underwater treasure hunt of course!
For non-divers, the Planet Rock climbing wall was available for fun climbs. For
those with a head for heights and strong arms and legs, the Rock Climbing
Competition on Saturday morning was open to novices.
Other contests included the kayaking competition and ? oh yes ? the Bikini
Contest. How could we forget that?
Last year?s winner, Chinggay Gurango, was among the judges for this exuberant
event. She was joined by TV Personality Mr. ?Oh No Its?? Johnny Manahan for
ABS/CBN, Actress Ms Angel Aquino and representatives from the Fiesta Sponsors.
These included Subic Legend Sports and Casinos, who provided rooms for Fiesta
attendees starting at US$55 per night, and SBMA.
Saturday night was capped by live music and dancing into the small hours of the
morning.
There was a Trade Fair ongoing throughout the Dive Fiesta showcasing food,
goods and equipment for sale and rent, games for the whole family, discover
Scuba Diving courses, and fun dives (don?t forget, Subic has an outstanding
selection of wreck dives to choose from). Other activities available included
kayaking, parasailing, windsurfing, jetskiing, sea plane rides and much more.
Subic Bay Aquasports once again hosted the event, having proven themselves to
be rather good at it. They were ably assisted by such dive industry notables as
Noel Lim, Jennie Alano and Kerry Asuncion.
