Eventually the school was closed because their Prof. Teodoro
Sandico, the brains behind the night school, secretly left for
Spain. There were rumors that he was going to be arrested and
exiled on improbable charges of spreading immoral teachings.
Speaking of descendants of the 21 Women of Malolos, a list
would read like a who's who list. There's Filipinas Shell
president Oscar Reyes, Former Ambassador Bienvenido
Tantoco, former Minister Jesus Tanchangco, to mention a few.
The 21 Women contributed a lot during the bloody days of the
Malolos Revolution. They served as couriers for important and
secret documents, nursed the wounded katipuneros, provided
food and shelter, etc. As one Malolos descendant tells the story
about his grandmother, the Malolos Republic would have
starved without them!
To memorialize and honor the great courage, patriotism and
achievements of these pioneers, Maloleqos are in the process of
organizing a foundation for the 21 women of Malolos.
