(SECOND OF A SERIES)
One can never go hungry
in Mimosa Leisure Estate
with the six specialty
restaurants located
around the estate aside
from inroom dining. If you
are a hotdog-franks and
sausage lover, the Gasthof
German Restaurant is the
place. Yakiniku Korea
House as its name
connotes serves Korean
cuisine. On the other hand, Kapampangan specialties are
featured at the Bahay Kubo while Derang Derang located at
the top of a hill by the swan lake offers a cool ambience.
Here, theres barbeque and other ihaw-ihaw pulutan. At
the Fun House, there are a snack and tea bar, ice cream
parlor, pool table and video games. The Verandah which
serves international cuisine is for members only.
After a hearty lunch, we went back to our villa. All of us instantly
fell in love with the place which exudes an aura of tranquility and
an unbelievably homey atmosphere. It became so homey to me
that I promised myself when the time comes that I have to build
my own house, I will pattern it after the Mimosa villa because it is
simply designed, spacious and yet tastefully decorated. It was like
my barbie house. But we were no barbies. Not too long after we
occupied the villa, we had transformed it from a cute dreamhouse
into a little girls disorganized locker room. Realizing that we have
already grown into young ladies, we immediately and methodically
put things back into place.
We had a late dinner that day after my interview with Holiday Inn
Clark GM Michael Weiss (a separate story). At first, we had a
hard time deciding where to eat. Two of my friends wanted to eat
at Bahay Kubo while another just wanted to stay in the villa and try
the in-room dining or room service. Finally, we ended up eating at
the Fun House and playing games. I realized, though all of us are
already in our early 20s, we still could not get rid of our childlike
and playful attitudes.
The next day was our first encounter with golf clubs at the driving
range. No one in the group knew how to play golf but we enjoyed it
nevertheless, not minding if we were doing it the wrong way. After
all, no one was looking.
The Mimosa Golf and Country Club has a natural all-weather
36-hole golf course designed by Honolulu golf architect Robin
Nelson of Nelson and Haworth (N&H).
The course which consists of four distinctive nines, has been
designed to be friendly to new, high handicap golfers, while the
championship tees provide a stern challenge for even the most
seasoned players. Members and guests are also entitled to use
other facilities such as the 18-hole putting course, putting green,
double-ended driving range and the golf clubhouse which has
locker rooms, sauna, lounge, gym, whirlpool, Pro Shop, Verandah
Restaurant and a Golf Academy where besttrained personnel
make a pro out of every amateur. According to Peqa, membership
fee for individual is R750,000 while R1.8 million is the corporate fee
that entitles a member to have three nominees.
Our goal is really to be a family-oriented one-stop golfing
destination in Asia, Peqa and Serrano confidently said as they
enumerated the many perks and activities they have lined up for
their members and their families.
Aside from the special room rates they give to members, they also
prepare fun activities for their children especially during holidays
and summer. Members wives are also treated to a relaxing break
with the promotional spa treatments and other forms of relaxation.
In Mimosas Golf and Country Club and Montevista, members and
guests are not the only ones being taken care of. Its 520
employes are also given benefits including get-together activities
such as sportsfests that includes basketball tournaments,
Christmas parties and the exercise of their right to voice out their
views, comments or suggestions during the Employe Circle
meetings held frequently. Also, despite the current tension in the
estate brought about by the controversial Clark Development Corp.
takeover of the estate last Dec. 4, the employes who continue to
report to work even if refused entry recently received their 13th
month pay.
All these and more make the Montevista and Mimosa Golf and
Country Club valuable to its members, guests and most especially
to its employes who have worked hard day and night, in good
times and bad just to make sure that even just a short stay in this
place will truly be an enjoyable and memorable experience. After
all, this is their home. (TO BE CONTINUED)
