The world economy may be sluggish, but demand for air freight remains strong, specially in the Asia-Pacific, an area expected to outstrip all other in air cargo growth for several years to come.
To improve their competitive edge, airlines now have access to a pioneering Web-based Express Cargo Clearance Facility (EDDF) launched by TMW Worldwide Express Inc., an all-Filipino logistics company known for innovation in handling the crucial supply chain.
The ECCF is an internet-based solution targeting importers needing fast Customs clearance of express shipments, with a benchmark release of two hours after arrival. It also maintains safety nets to ensure collection of duties and taxes and controls on regulated and prohibited shipments.
Initially at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Terminal 1, the system will be extended to all international gateways by early next year.
