Asiana Airlines teams up with Cathay Pacific

Asiana Airlines (OZ), Korea’s premier national carrier, has announced its fully reciprocal flyer partnership through Asia Miles, the region’s leading travel reward program.

Passengers can now earn Asiana Club miles whenever they fly any Cathay Pacific operated route. Asiana Club miles are also now redeemable for free flights on Cathay Pacific’s worldwide route network. Similarly, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles members can now earn miles when flying Asiana.



Asiana Club members will also earn a 50 percent mileage bonus when flying First Class and 25 percent bonus when on Business Class on any Cathay Pacific operated route. Free trips earned can be booked over the Asiana Airlines reservations and ticketing offices in Makati.



To celebrate this partnership, Asiana Airlines is also offering members a special 1,000-mile Celebration Bonus on any Asiana or Cathay Pacific flight between July to September 30.



In addition, Asiana’s frequent flyer program for children, Magic Miles has also been expanded.



“These partnerships and additional privileges enhances Asiana Airlines ground and air services even more,” said You Jung Park, Asiana Airlines regional manager.



“At this time with Visit Korea Year ongoing and our fleet undergoing flight performance enhancements, these new mileage program offerings are intended to make our passengers enjoy flying with us even more,” he added.

Singapore Tourism Board cited as ‘Top Innovator’

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) was voted Top Innovator among national tourist organizations in the Asia-Pacific in the the first ever Innovators Awards by Travel Weekly East (TWE), a publication by Reed Travel and Meetings Asia.



The STB also won top place in the category for Innovation in Environment/Heritage work, for its efforts in the exemplary Changi Chapel relocation and preservation project.



The awards seek to recognize specific innovations in the Asia-Pacific tourism industry.



Yeoh Siew Hoon, TWE’s editorial director, said: “Innovators Awards recognize companies and individuals who have lifted the bar in the existing market they are in or changed the rules of the game or taken a simple idea and executed it well. The Singapore Tourism Board has certainly excelled in these categories.”



The panel of experts comprised decision-makers from the Asia-Pacific. Each panelist was asked to nominate top three choices in each of the 13 award categories, for individuals or companies which had set themselves apart by applying “cutting edge management techniques”.
