Passport renewal is a phone call away

Everything seems to be just a phone call away. By dialing a number, customers can get what they need delivered to their doorstep - from fastfood stuff to car repair services. Today, a phone call can even get your passport renewed.

This is the most recent project of the Pilipinas TeleServe, Inc. (PTI). Known as the DFA Passport Direct, it allows customers to renew their passports just by calling a number, 7371000.

With this service, which costs R1,200, you can have your new passport in about six days.

A customer calls the hotline, answers questions that will appear in the passport, and then agrees on a date, time and address for the messenger service to come and pickup his or her old passport. When the messenger presents the documents, the customer signs the renewal form, double checks the data, and submits his or her passport photos. Of course, payment for the service should be made at this point.

In exchange for this amount is the convenience of being spared the time and frustration of processing the documents by going to the DFA, and waiting in line.

This service is conducted by the Pilipinas Teleserve Inc., the same company behind the NSO Helpline Plus which offers the convenience of requesting for birth, marriage, death or other documents, by phone.

The NSO Helpline Plus is a tie-up with the National Statistics Office (NSO).

PTI is a company focused on the effective system design and the application of new call center technology coupled with customer-centered service principles to improve the operational efficiency of clients. It designs, sets-up, and manages Tele-service systems specific for clients’ needs.

It owns a call center which has the capability for applications such as order processing, product inquiries, third party verification, customer service, pre and post sales support, technical support and an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).

At the helm of this company are three young entrepreneurs: Jun Yupitun, director for operations; Raffy David, director for marketing and quality assurance; and Jeffrey Villanueva, finance director and new product development manager.

The PTI Call Center is located at the 4th floor San Diego Building, #462 Carlos Palanca Street, Quiapo, Manila. It can be reached at tel. no. 735-9613 or fax at 735-7162.
