Richmonde Hotel: A weekend hideaway resort in Ortigas

Whenever my husband and I – with our two little kids and their yayas in tow – go shopping at Shangri-La Plaza or Megamall, the Richmonde Hotel at the corner of San Miguel and Lourdes aves. never fails to attract my attention for it looks so bright from the outside.

It’s even more appealing and inviting today with its huge, glowing Christmas tree at the lobby which is visible through the glass windows. The beautiful fountain right infront of the hotel is a head-turner that my little son always points to me in fascination whenever we pass by it. I often wonder how this hotel would look like inside.

Then last weekend my husband and I together with our two kids checked in at the hotel, occupied one of its executive suites, and to our surprise, we found a four-burner electric stove, a microwave but without the usual mini-refrigerator we often see in other hotels instead a much bigger one.

We were provided with cutlery so that if we would decide to cook, we could do so. I later found out that the guests who were staying either in their one or two-bedroom suites were provided with the same facilities.

The hotel has two restaurants both found on the second level: the Richmonde Grill where all the in-house guests are entitled to a daily buffet breakfast which has a wide range of sumptuous selection of food. However, every Tuesday, there is a special night presentation dubbed: “Stargazing at Richmonde” where two known fortunetellers are available for their guests. The second restaurant is the Exchange Bar where you can get a very hefty meal during the day which includes a soup, a salad, main dish, dessert and your cup of coffee, tea or any beverage for a very low price of R250.00.

At night the Exchange Bar is transformed into an entertainment lounge with different performing pianist and singer every night.

Another pleasant surprise for us is their indoor heated swimming pool which we hardly find in other hotels. Indeed, it was an opportune time for my kids to swim here considering we have a cold weather these days and my kids would swim to their hearts’ content. My husband and I tried their high-tech fitness gym where they have professional trainers to guide us. The hotel also has a separate section of sauna & steam bath for men and women. After the workout, I availed myself of the Swedish massage done in the privacy of our room by a very professional masseuse. It sure was very relaxing and soothing to my tired muscles.

The hotel is strategically located especially if you do your Christmas shopping either at Megamall or Shangri-La because then you won’t worry about the hassles of traffic and look for a parking space for your car since you can just walk towards these malls and you can easily go back to your room to relax after a day of shopping. We also took advantage to have my son’s blood test taken at Medical City which is just across the hotel.

I think Richmonde Hotel is one of the finest hotels I have ever checked in where the members of the staff are courteous, the service is fast and personalized, not at all intimidating as you often feel in other bigger hotels. This is one of the fast-rising hotels to look for in the coming year.

They also have five function rooms, seven business centers which they open for long-term rentals and two meeting rooms. Richmonde Hotel has really made our stay very comfortable and pleasant. As a matter of fact, we are already planning our next visit here especially to take advantage of their Christmas promo with big discounts on all their rooms.
