The recent travel mart featuring the country’s tourist attractions be it in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao was a real eye-opener. “Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan” a slogan coined by the Department of Tourism couldn’t have said it better.

With the on-going slump in international travel, the DoT and PHILTOA are drumming up interest in promoting discounted weekend packages via the “Wow Philippines” program. This new scheme aims to encourage Filipinos especially those who travel frequently to other countries, to stay right here in the Philippines instead and explore its beautiful scenery and attractions.

With the long weekend holidays, families will have the chance to discover or re-discover the many scenic spots scattered all over the Philippine islands.

Accommodations from as low as R1,050, 3 days/2 nights per person are available until Dec. 2002. Local travelers may choose from the tours from Manila, Cebu, Davao, Clark or Laoag depending on their point of origin.

Day tours to Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Caylabne, Corregidor, the Island Cove, as well as a culinary tour to Quezon Province and cottage industry/craft tour to Rizal-Laguna are also available. Tour includes private aircon transport, services of a guide or a coordinator, set lunch and entrance fees.

Go whale-watching (Butanding) in Bicol’s Sorsogon, diving in Bohol’s Balicasag Island, dolphin-watching in Dumaguete, kayaking in Tuguegarao, shopping in Subic, swimming in Boracay, sightseeing in Banaue, the list is endless.
