For foreign and local tourists, there’s another good reason to go to Baguio as Camp John Hay Manor is now open to the public.

Freddie Alquiroz, COO of Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJH DevCo) said the Manor is the first hotel that was constructed as part of the development plan for CJH.

Alquiroz said the hotel is a 187-unit facility that boasts of interesting architectural and cozy interiors, an enhanced Fil-Am Friendship Garden. At least 72 units were opened on December 1, while full operations is targeted this year.

The four-storey structure that takes the place of the former Main Club was designed to blend nearly with towering pine trees, and provides a magnificent view of the Cordillera mountain range.

The manor promises five-star services through highly-trained staff and world-class facilities. It consists of studio-type, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, to cater to the different needs of individuals, groups and families.

It has a café and restaurant, a lounge that features a large fireplace, plus the amenities one can fine in deluxe hotels.

Add to these the numerous recreational and dining facilities that one can enjoy at CJH – picnic areas, skating and bicycle rinks, basketball court, mini-golf course, ball field, children’s playground, ice cream parlor and snack bar, Lonestar Steakhouse, indoor recreation center, duty free shop, Camp Nike, Angles Star, and a quaint garden café called Chocolate-te-de-Batirol.

A Country Waffle outlet opened recently at the 12th Tee Strumm’s and Dencio’s Grill also opened respective branches at the Camp last December.

The public may also visit John Hay landmarks like the Bell Amphitheater, Liberty Park, Cemetery of Negativism, Mermaid Garden and Igorot Garden.

Alquiroz said the opening of the Manor is seen to make a significant contribution to Baguio’s tourism by helping answer for the lack of accommodation facilities especially during peak season.

The Manor and other similar facilities that will be constructed in CJH will also help boost Baguio’s bid as a convenion capital of the country.

The Manor was designed by Recio-Casas Architects with interiors by Steven Leach & Associates. It will be managed by Club Leisure, Inc. the same group operating the CJH Clubhouse and the Manila Southwoods Manor. (PNA)
