MALAY, Aklan - The Mediterranean-inspired Boracay Regency Beach Resort, comprising 43 fully furnished air-conditioned rooms with Bamboo and rattan furniture, has attached a new wing.

Since it opened its doors on April 1998, the resort has attracted a loyal following. After enjoying years of successful operation and encouraged by the favorable response from the market, the management of the resort opted to build a second wing, to accommodate the rising demand for rooms in Boracay. A bridge, connecting the old wing to the new, leads guests to more rooms overlooking the famed coastline. The extension houses 2 Junior Suites, 1 Honeymoon Suite and a Presidential Suite, aside from the customary type of rooms namely, Superior, Deluxe and Family Rooms. All 31 additional rooms is equipped with the usual comforts such as cable TV, mini bar, IDD/NDD telephone with extension to the bathroom, plus added amenities.

One of the prime-movers of the resort, Mary Ann Ong, the Sales & Marketing Diretor of Boracay Regency, is looking forward to welcoming guests to the additional wing. She has been with the company since 1998 and was responsible for setting-up the Manila Sales Office. Having had extensive experience in hotel management, here and abroad, she has contributed tremendously to the growth of the hotel in terms of sales and acquiring new members oto the Boracay Regency Resort Membership Card. This exclusive card offers ten years fixed room rates with discounts on food and beverages and the priviledge of extending dicounts on room rates to others. Members can even enjoy three room nights free, on peak season, every year.

When asked about the reward of working for a resort, Mary Ann has this to say, “The perks of the job is you get to travel to Boracay for free – it’s as if they are paying me to go on vacation to one of the world’s Top Ten beaches. And of course, meeting or arranging for Top V.I.P.’s to experience the same.” There are various travel routes to choose from. From Manila, one can take a plane either to Kalibo or to Caticlan. From Kalibo, one takes a twohour bus ride to Caticlan jetty port. From Caticlan, the jetty port is a mere 15 minutes away from the resort.

Ms. Ong has no difficulty in inviting people and companies to visit the resort because according to her, “considering our modern amenities, swimming pool and the ideal location, our rates give good value for money.” The hotel also provides a seminar room with all the necessary facilities and a conference center with fax, computer and e-mail services. On top of that, the resort boasts of having the only disco with live band in the area and their concept for the restaurant is quite different from the rest. This new Food and Beverages concept is a fusion of three different kitchens – Chinese, Korean and Spanish.

The launching held at the Regency last Nov. 30, 2001 was attended by celebrities as well as prominent politicians. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was headed by Vice Mayor Victor Faculta of Iloilo, Governor Joven Miraflorres, Congresswoman Billie Calizo and Senator Serge Osmena with Giselle Sanchez and Henry Chusuey (President). The V.I.P.’s were asked to share their thoughts about the resort and what this development means to the island. Then Top Producers were given awards to thank them for their support. As the evening progressed, the guests were serenaded by Cutie Delmar and a comedienne impersonated Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. But the night became even more exciting when Giselle Sanchez took to the stage and did her own brand of raucous and sultry comedy which spared no one, including the Board of Directors namely, Henry Sy, Eddie Ong, Henry Chusuey (President) and Ramon Locsin (Iloilo City Councilor). She played, sang and danced with them to the delight of the crowd and the Directors themselves. It was a fitting end to a day filled with much anticipation encompassing what the Regencyn is all about – a place where business and pleasure meet and match.

Future plans for the resort includes a gym, a massage clinic and a more aggresive banquet department tha can handle and execute beautiful beach weddings for the island. Once these added services are in place, one need not think twice about spending a week or two at the Regency in this picturesque island called Boracay.

The event was co-sponsored by Air Philippines, Asian Spirit, Mandala Spa and Southwest Tours.
