DAVAO CITY – Mindanaons are now starting to capitalize on the opportunities opened by Aboitiz Air’s Davao-Manado connection.
According to Mae Marte, team leader of Aboitiz Air for Davao and General Santos, large volumes of Mindanao products are now moving to Manado City, Indonesia as indicated by the outgoing cargo of about 18,967.5 kilograms or more than half of Aboitiz Air’s total cargo load for February which is recorded at 32,943.5 kilograms.
“It’s a clear indication that Mindanaons are responding very positively to this initiative by taking advantage of the newly-opened cargo service route,” Marte said. Cargo load since the start of its operations include tuna, cosmetics, plant equipment and fighting cocks.
Aboitiz Air launched its inaugural flight from Davao to Manado on Jan. 22. Using excess cargo capacities in the Davao City and General Santos City airports, Aboitiz air provides alternative route for Manado’s shipments (principally tuna) to Los Angeles, USA.
