International experts on the various aspects of incentive travel will troop to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan for the 7th Phil-Incentive Marketing Conference on October 12 to 16.

They include managing directors Nigel Gaunt of The Mint Organization and Steven Tight of the Walt Disney Hong Kong, presidents Josiah Go of the Mansmith & Fieldes and Silva Kandiah of the International Association of Airport & Seaport Police, vice president John Mims of Starwoods Hotel & Resorts, and travel editor Aryn Baker of Time Magazine Asia.

They will join local experts in sharing their knowledge and skills with the local incentive travel industry, which is gearing up to take advantage of the emerging opportunities in this lucrative segment of the tourism market.

A motivational tool in the form of extraordinary tour experience, incentive travel is being given by companies and organizations as promotional rewards to their patrons or consumers, and to their executives and employes for outstanding performance.

Thus, the emergence of travel as the one of the world’s most attractive incentives has opened up a new market for tourism businesses, locally and globally, and both in the corporate and non-corporate worlds.

This phenomenon has also given rise to new concepts in tourism, which the local and foreign experts will discuss during the five-day conference organized by the Philippine Convention & Visitors Corporation (PCVC), the marketing arm of the Department of Tourism.

PCVC deputy executive director Rosvi Gaetos said the conference would thus lead industry members to the revenue path in incentive travel.

Conference topics include: “It’s a Jungle Out There: Be Its Lord” by Mims, “The Medium is the Message” by Baker, “The Business of Incentives” by Gaunt, “Create or Re-create?” by chairman emeritus Gil Yuzon of international ad agency Hemisphere Leo Burnett and film director Peque Gallaga.

“Lean & Mean Marketing” by Go and Vice president Marivic Anonuevo of Ayala Land, “the A-Z of Incentive Travel” by president Patrick Gregorio of Waterfront Philippines and general manager Jose Clemente III of Rajah Tours Philippines, “Culture is the Incentive” by executive director Alice Panares of the National Commission & the Arts.

“Getting Ready for the Worst” by Kandiah, “More than the Usual Events” by president Lena Malouf of Special Events, Co., and “The Mouse that Roared: Rising Above Challenges” by Tight.

This international event is made even more exciting by workshops fashioned in tribal and natural rituals and traditions, and themed meals characterized by cultural and ecological showcases and hosted by the Palawan mayors, SEAIR, and WG&A Superferry.

“Phil-Incentive is now committed, not just to professionalize the industry, but also to develop the host destination,” Gaetos added, referring to the inclusion of such cultural events and an exciting Palawan tour in the conference activities.
