Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort: Haven for tourists
Source: Manila Bulletin

MACTAN ISLAND, Cebu – Rhyz Buac, resident manager of Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort recalled the modest beginnings of the now ever thriving Maribago resort. “Maribago was just a barrio then, it started as a family resort and through the years, as they would invite relatives and friends for a weekend getaway, they saw the need to expand. Eventually the owners decided to join the hospitality industry and, thus, made good of the resort business.”

Ever busy checking on the entire Maribago property, Buac, the very friendly resident manager has been at the helm of the resort since its Day One of operations.

The 12-year-old five-hectare property is owned by the family of Arcadio Alegrado, who is also a Consul-General at the Philippine Embassy in Austria. They have been into the furniture trade for sometime before the resort venture. Really, it’s no wonder why the family is very much hands-on when it comes to conceptualizing the entire resort plus designing and furnishing the property’s various units.

Today, the Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort is a holiday haven for both local and foreign visitors. Family and corporate accounts are their perennially strong markets. “Forty percent of the total guests are Japanese nationals with an average of 3-4 nights stay. The rest of the top four foreign guests are from Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan.”

Maribago’s facilities include five food outlets such as Allegro restaurant, Sunset Cove, Pier 7, poolside bar, gameroom bar, with room service as well.

Catering to the meetings and conventions market, the resort has a 313-square-meter conference hall, which can be divided into four sizeable function rooms. For teambuilding sessions, some companies prefer to hold court along the beachfront, or hie-off to a nearby private island for more brainstorming, or mount a poolside event for other creative strategies.

Other fun and stay-active highlights are the recreation center, the shooting gallery, two clay tennis courts, two lagoon-shaped pools and lots of aqua-sports and fun-to-do-stuff – jet skiing, water skiing, waverunners, windsurfing, aquabikes, paddle boats, banana boats, parasailing, catamaran, fishing, island hopping, diving and yacht cruising.

They also have a well-equipped gym, Jacuzzi, sauna, mountain bikes, billiard tables, darts, video games, table tennis and more table games to choose from.

To make things easier for “bakasyonistas” and other guests, laundry service is available as well as day care center and babysitting services. They also have a resort nurse and on-call company physician.
