The Hyatt Regency Manila launched its three-week Spanish Food Festival last Wednesday at the hotel’s Café Al Fresco with Sr. Alvaro de Salas Gimenez de Azcarate, minister-counsellor of the Spanish Embassy in Manila heading the list of guests including the members of the tri-media.

On hand to entertain them were Hyatt Regency Manila general manager Farid A. Schoucair, Gabriele Colombom Hyatt executive chef and Jenny Lozada-Calma, Hyatt marketing communications manager.

Together with members of the Spanish community in Manila and Filipino Spanish food lovers, guests feasted on authentic Spanish cuisine by guest chef Luis Martinez who flew in from Hyatt Regency La Manga

in Spain to fire up diners’ appetites and spice up their dining experience.

The lunch and dinner buffets (R800 plus) feature a selection as varied as the culinary capitals of Spain codfish and seafood (Basque), casseroles, sausages, cheeses and “li-ali” saud (Cataluña), paella arroz con pollo and other rice dishes (Valencia) “caldera” or caldron (Murcia) and gazpacho (Andalucia), and among man

y others.

A singing/string quartet that specializes in Spanish music and songs completes Café Al Fresco’s charming fiesta ambience.

Take-home treats from Café Al Fresco “pasteleria” features turrones, quesomauchego, chorizos, jamonserrano, Spanish wines, and others.

Meanwhile, “Tapas Nights” will spice up the hotel’s Calesa Music Bar & Lounge during the entire promotional period. This

favorite plate of appetizers is a “must” for every Spanish meal, and make for delicious “pica-pica” with Sangria, sherry, and Spanish wines, cognac or brandy.
