Enchanted Kingdom unveils new attractions

STA. ROSA, Laguna — Enchanted Kingdom, the Philippines’ premier theme park has unveiled new attractions for family entertainment.

Among the newest attractions are the Kart Trak and Xtreme Paintball, which are extreme sports facilities; and the 4D Discover Theater, a visual and sensory experience at the movies taking theater to another level.

For race aficionados, they will certainly love the latest addition to Enchanted Kingdom (EK)’s family entertainment mix: the 600-meter go-kart track called ‘Kart Trak’ at the park’s Spaceport Zone.

Jeng de la Torre, EK’s manager for marketing and advertising, together with Portia Granadas, EK’s publicity section head said these were built according to ‘international standards’ by Carmona Racing Circuit and Batangas Racing Circuit.

“Kart Track has one-seater and two-seater karts, plus ‘cadet’ class karts for kids of eight to 12. The track follows specifications by both the Federacion Internationale De L’Automobile (FIA) and the Confederacion Internationale de Karting (CIK) for performance and safety, and each kart has ample horsepower and acceleration to provide riders with speed and thrills,” they said.

Kart Trak complements EK’s Xtreme Paintball facility where guests can experience speed and adrenalin in this ‘war-simulation’ sport. It is a combination of speed ball-field scenario game play with an air-powered paintball gun that fires non-toxic, water-soluble paintballs below 280 feet per second. Xtreme Paintball, which is near the Rio Grande water ride, can be played by two teams of five to 10 players each.

Those who want to experience EK’s Rialto at a higher level, there’s the Park’s new 4D Discovery Theatre — a ‘first’ in the country. “Horror movie fans are in for a different kind of experience in this 30-seater theater equipped with a special screen for three-dimensional images, and chairs that let the viewers experience sensory effects,” said De La Torre and Granadas.

The 4D Discovery Theater’s initial film is a horror feature titled ‘Escape from Bane Manor,’ with sensory effects for the viewers such as wind blowing, leg tickling and water spraying. It is the haunting story of an old man who recalls his encounter with ghosts of all sorts, and goblins in a grand Victorian castle.

EK has a special holiday schedule. From Dec. 15 to 19, the Park is open from 10 am. to 10 p.m.; Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, 2004, from 10 a.m. to 12 midnight, with nightly fireworks as added highlights and attractions at 9 p.m.; and on Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, 2004, from 10 a.m. to 12 midnight, with nightly fireworks as at 9 p.m.; and on Dec. 24 to Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Shuttle service to and from the park is available at the Ayala Center terminal at R100 per passenger, for one way.

EK features two admission tickets — the Day pass at R500 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; and R400 during weekdays, and R100 for Carousel Special.

EK’s De la Torre and Granados explained that “Day Pass holders get unlimited access to EK rides, except for the special attraction, the 4D Discovery Theater; while the Carousel Special holders get “unlimited” rides at the Carousel. A minimal separate admission is required for Kart Trak, Xtreme Paintball and 4D Discovery Theater.”

EK, which was established in late July 1995, is the country’s first international-class theme park, situated at San Lorenzo South, here. A family theme park, EK is in a 16.5 hectare area, 12 hectares of which are developed. It is patterned after the Knott’s Berry Farm of Southern California, USA.
