Oxford Suites, the latest addition to Makati’s roster of luxury hotels, has been a welcome treat for both local and foreign tourists since it opened its doors in 2001. As a boutique hotel, Oxford Suites offers a welcome alternative to impersonal hotel chains.

Located at the corner of Durban and P. Burgos Streets, the 27-storey boutique hotel boasts of 232 fully-furnished rooms. It is right in the middle of Makati’s business and entertainment district and is just minutes from some of the country’s best shopping malls. Bars and restaurants offering Filipino, Korean, Japanese, European fare are practically at its doorstep. Because of its very convenient location, Oxford Suites is a convenient temporary home to its guests.

Sales and Marketing manager Claire Gabriel said the hotel caters mostly to the corporate market but also gets its fair share of other markets such as leisure, groups and Frequent International Travelers.

"The hotel’s strengths are location, service, and accommodations. Oxford Suites is being managed by professionals who have had lengthy experiences in the hotel business," she said.

With its tagline "home to different personalities," Oxford Suites aim to treat guests as individuals with different needs and wants. This is achieved by hotel staff trying to find details of each guest’s preferences and putting these details on file for future reference.

"Our efforts have not gone to waste as our repeat business has been increasing. Significant increases have also been noted in our occupancy and average daily rates," Gabriel added.

The hotel offers its guests a choice of rooms – Superior, Executive, Deluxe, Junior Suite, One Bedroom Suite and the lavish O Suite. Room rates go for $90++ for a Superior Room and $500++ for the O Suite.

Tastefully done in cool pastel shades, the guestrooms have various amenities to suit the different needs of guests. Unlike other hotels with centralized air conditioning, each room has its own air conditioning unit that allows the guest to control the room temperature more effectively. The wide bed provides a most restful sleep with its firm mattress and down pillows. The 36-sq.meter Executive room has much more space than the average hotel room.

The mini-bar is well-stocked with local and imported drinks and food items. Audio and video entertainment is provided by Dream Cable TV.

The One-Bedroom Suite has a spacious living area that allows for comfortable entertaining for socials or business. It has kitchenette where guests can prepare their own meals. A four-seater dining table enhances the dining experience.

The O Suite is a two-storey accommodation with floor to ceiling glass windows showing a panoramic view of the city’s skyline. The wide expanse of space that contains the living, dining and kitchen area is perfect for an intimate get-together or a small party. It has an entertainment center and a guest bathroom. The bedroom, located on the second level has a king-size bed, walk-in closet, TV set and a private bathroom.

Oxford Suites also has a coffee shop; function rooms for corporate meetings; a business center that provides secretarial, photocopy, facsimile and courier services; room service, laundry and pressing services and airport transfers. Guests who want to relax can try in-room massage service or get a quick work-out at its fully-equipped gym.

Oxford Suites’ best asset, however, is its gracious and professional staff. Swift check-ins and check-outs, efficient housekeeping service, courteous doormen and an expert marketing group all work together to provide leisure and corporate guests everything they need.
