De luxe hotels in Metro Manila attained a significant 78.93 percent occupancy rate following the huge influx of tourists last February, the Department of Tourism (DoT) statistics office disclosed, recently.

The occupancy rate of de luxe hotels was 12.15 percent higher compared to the 70.38 percent during the same month last year. Likewise, the 2.56 nights average length of stay of accredited de luxe hotels was 1.19 percent longer than the 2.53 nights average length of stay in February 2003.

A huge increase in the occupancy rate among the first class, standard and economy hotels in Metro Manila was also noted by DoT.

Based on the reports submitted by hotels, the growth in occupancy rates could be attributed to the increase in the arrivals of foreign tourists and local guests, bigger group bookings, live-in seminars and conventions held in hotels.
