Comforting the abused and abandoned children, providing better future for the out-of-school youth and street kids, giving new hope for those with ailment and disabilities.

These very well serve as the driving force behind the staging of the musical special, Salute! From the Media & Friends, slated July 12, 2004 at the Manila Hotel Fiesta Pavilion.

Purposely to benefit the Bantay-Bata 163 of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., the concert features members of the media who have not balked at performing their favorite songs and giving their best shots onstage “as an expression of universal love and goodwill for all the children of the world.

Last year’s Salute! Concert-for-acause series raised funds for the policemen and soldiers, involving government officials pioneered by its original, socalled as the Three Tenors – NAKTAF chief Angie Reyes, DILG Secretary Joey Lina and MMDA chairman BF Fernando, with DoJ Secretary Mercy Gutierrez and many others.

They are expected to render a special number and join this year’s Salute! Roster of performers from tri-media namely: Gina Lopez, Julius Babao, Tin-Tin Bersola, Carmina Constantino, Tina Monzon-Palma, Charo Logarta and Bernadette Sembrano of ABS-CBN; the “Tulfo Trio” (Mon, Erwin & Raffy); Nelly Sindayen of Time Magazine; Belinda Cunanan and Mandy Navasero of the Philippine Daily Inquirer; Deedee Sytangco of the Manila Bulletin; Ruth Abao of DZRH; Kaye Dacer, Vic Lima and Ruby Tayag of DZMM; Mike Toledo & Amelyn Veloso of ABC, Cynthia Santiago of MOD; and Eric Eloriage, Harold Geronimo, Marigold Haber, Dodie Lacuna, Angelique Lazo and Maricris Lu of RPN 9.

Supporting the media performers on stage is a trio of professional balladeers Lance Raymundo, Richard Villanueva and George Sison-Tagle.

Currently, “Salute! From the Media & Friends” is gaining ground as more and more ‘singing’ talents from the media, particularly from the print, are signifying their intention to take part in the show as “special” and surprise guests.”

Regular rehearsals are now being conducted at the residence of producer Beth Sison-Tagle, under the directorial command of Angie Magbanua, who won last year’s Aliw Awards for best concert stage direction, assisted by Gerry Matias as musical director.
