CORPORATE AIR’S GRAND CARAVAN RP skies welcome small planes

The weather is surprisingly sunny and warm despite the forecast of occasional rainfall. At the Corporate Air hangar in Pasay City, a great new plane festooned with blue and white balloons and waiting to be blessed stands proud.

For Corporate Air, which has been operating since 1997 and the only operator in the commuter industry offering first-class service to clients retreating to popular resorts and destinations like the Mandala Spa in Boracay Island, Amanpulo, El Nido, Club Noah Isabelle and the Baguio Country Club, the day is not only auspicious but also benchmarking.

"While we are operating several Cessna Caravan for FedEx’s cargo, this top-of-the-line Grand Caravan is configured for passengers," said Corporate Air chairman Alberto Lina. "The aircraft comfortably seats 12 passengers and is equipped with the latest instrumentation, avionics, luxurious leather seats, individual lighting and air conditioning controls and has large windows at each seat row making it ideal for sightseeing tourists."

"The Grand Caravan is a good thing that was made even better," said Corporate Air Sales and Marketing director Art Alejandrino. When asked about its safety and reliability, Alejandrino said, "This aircraft landed just two days ago from the Cessna factory in Wichita, Kansas after flying a total of 57 hours – 38 hours of which were flown over the Pacific Ocean, amid three cyclones. Need I say more?"

Because the aircraft is rugged, perfect runways are not required and confidence in the aircraft is best illustrated with Federal Express’ decision to purchase over 300 caravans to ensure its on-time deliveries all over the world.

The US Federal Administration Agency (FAA) tested the model’s dependability as a single-engine aircraft and found it to achieve "substantial and reliability assessments." The Caravan is a sturdy aircraft with a fail-safe design that has been tested to an equivalent of over 80,000 cycles and certified with no life limits. Each month, all over the world, more than a thousand Caravans log more than 30,000 hours – equivalent to 4.5 million flight hours or 500,000 million miles – with a dispatch reliability rate of 99 percent, since the aircraft started operating in the ‘80s.

Corporate Air president Ramon Gutierrez added, "We continue to log a 99.9 percent operations efficiency rate with our cargo-type Caravans since we started operations in 1997." With that record, clients can surely rely on on-time flight schedules.

Department of Tourism (DoT) Secretary Roberto Pagdanganan hailed Corporate Air’s bold investment decision in support of the country’s tourism industry.

"We have just been through a long and exasperating political exercise. Business was kept waiting for too long and the economy has got to move on. I hope this occasion will encourage others to start moving forward," added Lina.
