BATANGAS CITY — The management of the Supercat Fast Ferry Corp. has announced recently the expansion of its fast ferry services to Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro.

In answer to the growing travellers’ demand for fast, safe and comfortable ride, the corporation began its operation July 3 and has continuously received praises from satisfied commuters.

The Supercat which has a passenger capacity of 260, provides tourist class accommodation under the watchful eyes of courteous crew and can negotiate the Batangas-Abra de Ilog sealane in one hour and 30 minutes at a nominal cost of R180.00 one-way

It will be recalled that in 1995, then Gov. Rodolfo G. Valencia invited the Aboitiz Transport Shipping Corp., mother company of the Supercat Fast Ferry Corp. to operate along the Batangas-Calapan searoute to break the shipping monopoly. Since then, the Supercats have widened the patronage which includes domestic and foreign tourists.

Almost two months ago, the Batangas-Puerto Galera line was opened. The public reaction has encouraged the management to open the Batangas-Abra de Ilog line.

Maritime officers and executives of other shipping companies here believe that in the near future the original proposal of now Congressman Valencia to make Oriental Mindoro the jumping board of trips to Boracay and Manila will become a reality. (Mindoro Network News)
