MALOLOS CITY – The restoration of historical buildings, shrines, monuments, landmarks, and other important structures in 22 towns and two cities in this province is now under way.

Board member Cesar Ramirez, Tourism Committee chairman of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, said that he will form a Special Provincial Tourism Task Force tasked with restoring Bulacan’s centuries-old structures, including churches and other houses of worship.

The Tourism Task Force is also tasked to regulate and control the preservation of all national structures and historical landmarks in Bulacan.

Ramirez, who is also known as Daniel Fernando in the local movie world, said that the main objective of the restoration effort is to attract local and foreign tourists to Bulacan and generate more income for the province.

To achieve its goal, the provincial tourism Task Force will ask the full cooperation of municipal/city tourism committees in the province. These committees chaired by the mayors are responsible for restoring, renovating and reconstructing dilapidated historical structures and landmarks, in coordination with the local church leadership, non-governmental organizations, and resort associations in Bulacan. The Board Member also said that Bulacan has many centuries-old national shrines, monuments, landmarks, and historical edifices.

When preserved, renovated or restored these could boost tourism and generate more funds for the province and perk up Bulacan’s economy, Ramirez stressed.(Pete M. Gosuico)
