Enter the fascinating World of Butterflies

Marikina City’s beautifully landscaped farm was recently inaugurated to bring the public to the fascinating world of butterflies.

Enclosed in concrete, steel and nylon netting, the conservatory is liberally provided with foliage, pools, waterfalls and rock formation that mimic the tropical forest home of the butterflies.

Everybody, specially the children will be amazed to see the miracle of transformation as they experience a highly visual and experiential introduction to the world of nature.

One will also learn about the life-cycle of a butterfly through the wall-mounted materials and live butterflies exhibit in the conservatory. A knowledgeable guide has been assigned to answer any butterfly-related question and to share the experience of the butterfly life-cycle with every visitor – a scene that is constantly unfolding in the breeding area.

Watch the children hold their breaths in amazement as a butterfly emerges from a pupa. Visitors can also stroll among hundreds of different Philippine species of live butterflies, watch their variety of colors, and photograph these creatures if they wish. Many are thrilled as they let the butterflies land on their heads and shoulders.

Upon entry into the butterfly garden, a visitor will instantly be surrounded by hundreds of live butterflies! Enter their world, see how they fly, court, mate, sip nectar or rest on your head and shoulders, showing off their fascinating colors and patterns.

Few moments in nature are as magical as watching a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis. This rare transformation is an everyday occurrence here.

During the butterfly farm inauguration, Marikina Mayor Ma. Lourdes C. Fernando said the place is dedicated to the conservation ofbutterflies, in the eco-system and the education of people of all ages regarding the natural world.

“Insects make up most of the animal life on this planet and without them, humans could hardly survive. These beautiful creatures remind us today of our vanishing forest, which is their natural habitat.”
