Hassle-free travel with SIA’s e-ticket

There was a time when a lost ticket meant the disastrously frustrating end of a much-anticipated vacation or crucial business trip.

Passengers nowadays no longer need to worry about losing airline tickets, and the cumbersome procedures that go with it to obtain the ticket replacement from the issuing airline.

With Singapore Airline’s (SIA) "paperless" electronic ticket or e-ticket, a passenger’s travel data is stored in the airline’s database allowing him to merely check in for a flight with a valid passport. An E-Ticket Receipt with itinerary confirming travel arrangements can be referred to when needed during the trip. This receipt can be folded and easily stored in the pocket if so desired, unlike the conventional paper ticket.

In the event of a rerouting while on a trip, this can simply be made without the need for ticket re-issuance. This is convenience at its best for both the passenger and the travel agent.

Singapore Airlines in the Philippines continues to work with the Abacus and Amadeus International Reservations Distribution System to assist travel agents and passengers in the use of etickets.

Electronic tickets, which are widely used in the United States, have been successfully introduced in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and recently in the Philippines. There are now 41 Singapore Airlines stations accepting ticketless travel, with more destinations to be added soon.
