NINOY AQUINO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Passengers arriving at the Centennial Terminal can now breathe a sigh of relief with the delivery of brand new baggage carts to replace the dilapidated ones at the premiere terminal.
The delivery of the imported carts did not cost the government a single centavo, as the new airport management found a generous company to foot the bill.
Costing P15,000 each, Airport General Manager Alfonso Cusi managed to convince the LVV Corp. to donate 1,000 baggage carts.
In exchange, Cusi gave the LVV exclusive right to lease out the advertising space for the carts for a period of three years.
The company also will take care of the maintenance of the carts, and after three years, will turn over the full ownership of the carts to the airport management.
The three-wheeled carts were imported from China and are the same ones being used in Shanghai, Xiamen, and Guang Zho international airports. It is made of lightweight but sturdy aluminum alloy and has a carrying capacity of 80 kilograms each.
Airport authorities, led by Assistant General Manager for Operations Octavio Lina, took the delivery of 259 carts yesterday from LVV president Maribeth Ang.
The rest of the carts will be delivered before the busy Christmas season.
