Metropolitan Manila’s best attractions and products will hug the limelight at the crowd-drawing “Best of the Regions’” series at the Clamshell I in Intramuros, starting today until Oct. 30. The exhibit will showcase a convergence of urban lifestyle with a touch of history, culture and ecology. Each of the 13 cities of Metro Manila (Mandaluyong, Manila, Makati, Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Malabon, Caloocan, Valenzuela and Pasay) and the four municipalities of San Juan, Navotas, Taguig, and Pateros will compete in an exhibit of arts, tourist attractions, products and entertainment.

Visitors will have glimpses of a miniature La Mesa Dam, Metro Manila’s premier eco-tourism site and a replica of the Greenbelt Center as well as other shopping destinations located in the cities of Makati, Mandaluyong, and San Juan.

The exhibit will also recreate the popular Baywalk of Manila Bay, highlighting the coastal cities of Manila, Pasay and Parañaque and the municipality of Navotas.

Today’s opening ceremonies at 4 p.m. will include snippets of popular festivals in the city such as the Lavandero Festival of Mandaluyong, Pangisdaan Festival of Navotas, Caracol of Makati and Buling-Buling Festival of Pandacan. Other events include dance presentations like ballet, contemporary and neo-ethnic dance; song number and a Palarong Pinoy featuring favorite native games and sports such as arnis, yoyo, and sipa.

The Best of Metro Manila is open to the public for free, from 3-10 p.m. on Mondays; 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays to Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. (Rachel C. Barawid)
