Taiwanese investors eye air transport and tourism opportunities in Baguio City

Two visiting businessmen from Taiwan expressed investments interest on air transport and tourism in Baguio City.





Chu Wei Chung of the civil affairs bureau of the Tai Tung Country and Wang Chung Wei, of a recreation and tourist group are in this mountain resort on a government pre-arranged visit.



Assisting them in their local destinations are the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and the Department of Tourism (DoT). Jerry Panga, Philippine Tourism Attaché to Taiwan and Pura Molintas, Regional Director of the DoT, accompanied Chu and Wang during their courtesy call to City Mayor Yaranon, recently.



The visitors, through an interpreter said they plan to setup a regular flight from the Cebu Airport in Laoag City to Loakan Airport here in order that visitors from Taiwan in Ilocos Norte can always have a side trip to Baguio.



Since the 80s, Taiwanese tourists have frequented Laoag City and suburbs because of direct flight from Taiwan to Ilocos Norte.



The visitors told local officials that with regular Laoag-Baguio flights more Taiwanese visitors can come all year-round.



The Taiwanese guests have also toured La Trinidad, Benguet in the company of Municipal Mayor Nestor Fongwan.



Fongwan intimated to the guests that his town can also offer investment opportunities for Taiwan investors especially those in line with agriculture and trade.
