Hailed as having the most artistic show during the “2003 WOW Philippines’ Best of the Regions” series, the Eastern Visayas region makes a comeback starting today with an even more extraordinary show for visitors in the history town of Intramuros.

The Department of Tourism’s (DoT) trade-cum-cultural show which runs until Dec. 15, features the provinces of Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, and cities of Calbayog, Maasin, Ormoc and Tacloban.

Through creatively designed booths and attractions, visitors will see a glimpse of the region’s natural beauty and rich historical and cultural heritage. No less than the gifted family of artists – the Guarinos of Tacloban City – were commissioned by the DoT-Region 8 to design and execute the settings of the destination booths which will enhance the uniqueness of every city and the province of Eastern Visayas.

Today’s soft opening kicks off with a cultural presentation by the Streetchildren’s Choir and the Sto, Niño Sped Center of Tacloban City at 4 p.m.

For the grand opening on Dec. 4, activities include a parade of officials representing provincial cities and municipalities, trade fair, agri-aqua fair, fireworks display and cultural shows by the Leyte Dance Theatre and Balinsasayaw of Tanauan, Leyte.

Among daily presentations are a Christmas show dubbed as "Kasadya Ning Takna-a" and "Kuratsa," the dance of courtship popular in Eastern Visayas.

Available at the trade fair are products from the region such as foods (lechon, seafood and delicacies like binagol and moron), bags, and home decor made of abaca, banig, wood, seashells, etc.
