TERNATE, Cavite — Nestled in a secluded cove along the rugged coast of this town is a new-favored tourism destination called Caylabne Bay Resort.

Only 90 minutes by car South of Manila, the resort has Mediterranean-inspired tropical paradise with Spanish-Antillan hillside structures amidst 165 hectares of land. It combines the freshness of cool mountain air with the invigorating sea breeze from the South China Sea.

Within sight are Corregidor and Fort Drum on El Fraile Island, a "concrete battleship" rising some 40 feet above sea level, built by Americans during World War II.

Caylabne was formerly named Marbella Marina, the favored hideaway of the rich and famous. It has beguiled the likes of Prince Christoff, the Duchess of Cadiz, the Duchess of Arion, the Earl and Countess of Sulfolk, Henry and Cristina Ford and Sean Connery, among others.

Its owner, Exchange Properties Resources Corp., has developed vacation homes within the resort. Available are single-detached residential homes and condo-type units varying from studios, one-bedroom to three-bedroom units.

Here, courtyards, plunge pools, flower paths and hedges form with the ancient rhythm of the sea. Characterized by terracotta-tiled roofs, Italian-Mediterranean finishes and high ceilings, the villas are walking distance to the beach where one could also enjoy the vistas of the sea, river and mountains.

Reminiscent of charming Mediterranean seaside village, the project is named Las Casas de Cala Buena after the legend of Cala Buena meaning "Bay of Plenty," where the name Caylabne and the tradition of the fine privileged living originated.

The resort caters to both business and travel groups, with 113 well appointed rooms, each airconditioned suite features colored TV, in-house movies, mini-bar, and hot & cold water. The resort also has function rooms for 10-200 persons suited for meetings, conferences, retreats and parties.

Caylabne boasts of gracious living and fine dining. It has restaurants such as El Patio Restaurant (main dining area), Buenavista Café (specialty café with an excellent view), and the Marina Bar (sing-a-long with billiards and dart games).

For the sports enthusiasts, water sports facilities (kayak riding, paddleboards, windsurf, aquabike, cruises), speedboat, - as well as tennis court, basketball, volleyball and putting green are also available.

It can be reached by land, sea and air, or if one opts to arrive there in style, the resort also has a helipad.

Recently, it launched its special packages, namely: Rejuvenate package, for only R2,730.00++/person (minimum of 2 persons), includes overnight room accommodation in a one-bedroom suite, hearty breakfast for 2 persons, one-hour aromatherapy massage for 2 persons, souvenir gift for 2 persons; Barkada-gimik package, for only R1,600.00++/person (minimum of 3 persons, or R1,100.00++/person for 4th & 5th persons) includes overnight room accommodation in a one-bedroom suite, breakfast and dinner for 3 persons.
