Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) chairman and chief executive officer Efraim C. Genuino said recently that PAGCOR-run casinos stimulate tourism because of wide patronage they receive from foreign and domestic tourists.

In a message to the 19th anniversary of Casino Filipino (CF)-Cebu, Genuino described the casinos not only as a strong promoter of tourism but also as a large source of government income needed to lift the levels of living of the people.

"Big hotels and resorts abroad have casinos that help in the development of travel and tourism industry," said Genuino.

The PAGCOR chief described Casino Filipino-Cebu, located in Lahug, Cebu City, as a ‘magnet of tourism’ in Central and Eastern Visayas.

"The contribution of CF-Cebu and the other CF branches to the economy is immeasurable," Genuino said, as he called on the 11,000 PAGCOR personnel nationwide, to continue to work as a ‘team,’ in order to maintain the stature of PAGCOR as a top earning government corporation.

The anniversary celebration, held in simple rites, was opened by a Mass and highlighted by the announcement of CF-Cebu model supervisor and employees.

CF-Cebu is headed by CF-Cebu branch manager Danilo Cuneta. Among the guests at the anniversary were Senior Branch manager Alex Paz who is the corporate officer-in-charge for arcades management, and CF-Silahis branch manager for operations Roberto de Jesus, local officials and business executives.
