Family summer getaways north of Metro Manila

These days, improved roads to the north offer the most convenient alternative getaway from Metro Manila. Subic, Bataan, and Pampanga – over recent years, these destinations have slowly emerged as popular summer spots located north of Metro Manila. They have become well-known for providing wholesome family activities such as duty free shopping and swimming with the false killer whales in Subic, snorkeling and encounters with the ‘pawikan’ in the pristine beaches of Bataan, playing a round of golf in Clark, and merrymaking during fiestas in Pampanga coupled with indulgence in such culinary delights of the local culture as ‘halo-halo’ and ‘sisig’.

Among these destinations, Subic remains on top of mind. With improved accessibility to the place due to the rehabilitation of the North Luzon Expressway, trips now take less than two hours from Metro Manila.

Subic entitles visitors to an unlimited spree of swimming, island hopping, diving, and sailing at any of Subic Bay’s myriad coves. Mountaineers and nature lovers will also adore the area’s towering and lush mountains for their challenging nature treks and refreshing views. For history buffs, there are countless places to make sentimental trips. And for those who feel that no trip is complete without good food, there are the frozen steaks and imported desserts at the Duty Free Shops, the sweet mangoes and cashew nuts of Zambales, and the multitude of restaurants offering Japanese, Filipino, American, and Spanish fare along the boardwalk area.

Ayala Land Inc. (ALI), the country’s leading real-estate developer, has seized the tremendous synergy it can create with Subic’s leisure amenities by embarking on its first leisure venture – a high-end seaside residential resort community tucked in the neighboring town of Morong, Bataan. This leisure development spans over 320 hectares of a charming property, nestled with a 3.5-kilometer coastline, and framed by the majestic mountain ranges of Zambales and Bataan.

The lovely combination of mountain and sea environs will be the perfect backyard for seaside lots, elegant sea-view villas, and other leisure and recreational facilities, which are foreseen to establish Ayala’s project as an important weekend destination north of Manila.

ALI has teamed up with SUDECO, a private real-estate holding company established in 1998, for its development. Currently, the company is fast-tracking the development of the project’s Beach and Nature Club, which will become the center of a thriving community in the coming months. Future homeowners are guaranteed to enjoy these leisure and recreation facilities, not just on their annual summer vacation, but the whole year round. Modern conveniences will never be missed because of neighboring Subic’s well-developed infrastructure, which complements Bataan’s booming tourist spots.
