KAWIT, Cavite — In an effort to further boost the full implementation of the proposed Philippine Independence Park Legacy Project in this historic town, the provincial government and the Pilipino VIP Ako! Movement have launched the "1100-1" signature campaign at SM Bacoor.

The campaign aims to gather one million signatures of people who support and believe in the proposed Legacy Project for the purpose of promoting historical tourism in the Province and the entire country.

Cavite Gov. Ayong S. Maliksi who led other provincial officials and guests during the launching rites recently at the SM Bacoor Activity Center, said the project is a big boost to the province’s ambition to be the No. 1 in the tourist map of the country.

"We consider this move as an important ingredient in the province’s ambitious campaign to declare Cavite as the "Historical Capital of the Philippines" and make it the First Provincial Tourist Destination of both foreign and local visitors upon arrivals in the International Airport.

Provincial board members Jun del Rosario who was also present in the rites said that the project is a fresh start for the celebration of the first Provincial Festival dubbed as the "Kalayaan Festival" that has lined up a series of colorful and cultural activities from May 28-June 12.

He said that the week-long activity is in preparation for the grand celebration of the 107th Philippine Independence Day on June 12 to be held at the Aguinaldo Shrine.

Eduard "Dok" Solis, chairman of Pilipino Ako! Movement and a councilor of the town said that proposed park is an extension of the existing Freedom Park located in front of the Aguinaldo Shrine.

He said that the park, envisioned to be as spacious as the Rizal Park in Manila is a major tourism project of the Cavite government through its tourism office.

At least 2,700 signatures have been received by the movement during the soft launching who have pledged their support to the proposed project.

The Pilipino VIP Ako! Movement Inc. is a SEC registered non-stock, non-profit organization aimed at supporting the proposed Philippine Independence Park Legacy project.

It calls for every Pilipino to become a Volunteer for Independence Park (VIP) and give their support either by sponsorship, donation, prayer, endorsement or through personal service during the project’s construction and completion.
