Eagle Point Resort
--------------------------------
MAINIT POINT
Location:
The Southernmost point of the Calumpang Peninsula, known as Cazador Point on the charts.
Access:
30 min. by boat from EAGLE POINT pier south until off Mainit Point.
Conditions:
This site is more exposed than most in this area. Currents can be very strong and afternoon winds can make the surface very choppy, spoiling the visibility. Visibility can reach 25m (80ft). Most divers prefer to dive during the neap tides.
Average depth:
15m (50ft)
Maximum depth:
30m (100ft)
Some rocks break the surface. A gradual set of boulders forms miniature drop-offs from 5m (16ft) to 30m (100ft) plus due to the running currents, the marine life is plentiful and varied. There are good corals and the fish life include Moorish idols, Porcupinefish, Pufferfish, Snappers, Powder-blue Surgeon fish, jacks, scorpionfish, wrasses, and many more.

There is a cave at 7m (23ft) in which Whitetip Reef Sharks have been seen resting. The boulders are festooned with soft corals and anemones, together with many crinoids, colourful Lincra sea stars and nudibranchs. Because of the fierce currents, divers may have to shelter behind the rocks to be able to photograph.
