Location. Surrounded by the splendor of the Coachella Valley, the Sonoran Suites of Palm Springs are sublimely positioned in Palm Desert, Calif. Flanked by country clubs and championship golf courses, the resort is just 16 miles from downtown Palm Springs. Sun lovers will find no shortage of rays here, with only 15-20 days of rain on average. The San Jacinto Mountains, rising almost 9,000 feet vertically are often credited for keeping the rains and Los Angeles County smog from reaching Palm Springs. An amazing amount of golf courses exist, along with galleries, theaters, boutiques, and recreation centers. Hot-air balloon rides and long canyon drives are great ways to spend a day getting to know the area.

Temperatures are typically 40 degrees cooler than the desert floor, and winter brings with it a snowy wonderland perfect for cross-country skiing and sledding.
