As families on vacation continue to emerge globally as a significant category of travelers, Oakwood Premier Ayala Center is actively pursuing this market with special rates and packages particularly for local residents. In addition to business travelers, who comprise its core market, the luxury property has began to develop a loyal following from among families seeking to spend time together.

Al Legaspi, Oakwood resident manager, points out that recent studies in the US have identified leisure travelers vacationing with family or attending family events as "the single largest category of travel." He points out that at the 306-room property located at the heart of the Ayala Center in Makati, balikbayan families, families of local residents taking a break as well as families of executives doing business in the country are regular guests.

"Our set-up as a luxury residence property makes us family friendly as well as friendly to business executives," he says. Informal guest surveys point out that both families and executives particularly appreciate the fact that Oakwood units are larger than the average hotel room.

For executives, this means that some of their meetings can be held at their unit since every residence has its own dining and seating area. In addition, they have the flexibility of working in their room since each unit has broadband Internet connection.

For families, this means more room especially for active, younger children who are also likely to appreciate the entertainment center with DVD player that is part of the living area.

Moreover, Oakwood’s location within the Ayala Center and just one elevator ride away from the widest range of retail and entertainment option is quite appealing to both executives – who wish to unwind after a hard day’s work – as well as families that want to do things together, he says.

Oakwood’s proximity to the Ayala Center gives teenage family members as well as very young children a range of activities to do, he observes. These include active play at any of the public and private play areas within the mall all the way to bar hopping and exploring the interactive exhibits of the Ayala Museum.

Legaspi notes that both executives and families also appreciate the quiet ambience of Oakwood in Makati. The luxury establishment does not host big banquets or large conventions allowing guests privacy as well as tighter security. For parents, this means that their children are exposed primarily only to friendly hotel staff and other residents.

Families on vacation also have access to Oakwood’s facilities including an Olympic-style swimming pool, health club and spa, tennis courts and table tennis. Within each unit, the entertainment area, broadband Internet access, a full kitchen afford families other entertainment options.
